Hardiantos day starts early. He heads out to his rubber plantations. With a sharp blade and steady hand, he slices into the bark of the Hevea tree - drop by drop, milky white latex flows into bamboo pipes. After drying the latex, he delivers it to collection points - a daily routine that feeds his family and keeps the world moving. Hardianto inherited the plantation from his parents. Today, he manages it in a better way. Hardianto is one of around 5,000 smallholders who have been trained in sustainable tapping techniques and organic land management since 2018 in our joint project with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in Borneo, Indonesia. The result: high quality rubber, strengthened local communities and less deforestation. At Continental we take a holistic approach to our products. That's why responsible sourcing matters to us.
