#Sodium storage just became commercial reality. 🔋 This week in Munich, CATL unveiled the #TENER Sodium Energy Storage System — the world's first real-world validated sodium-ion #BESS, arriving as demand for stationary storage for renewables and grid stability accelerates. ⏳ Ultra-long #lifespan. 15,000 cycles at 25°C (70% SOH) — equal to 25–30 years of service, a system built to outlast the projects it powers. 🌡️ All-#climate performance. Over 10,000 cycles at 45°C and more than 92% capacity retention at –20°C, holding reliable from desert heat to deep cold. ⚙️ Higher #availability. Faults are located and isolated within 200 ms and unaffected sections recover within 150 ms, so the station keeps running. Behind it is a decade of work — nearly €1.2 billion #invested since 2016 and fully commissioned mass-production lines. The fully modular design needs just 34 units for a 1 GWh site and supports durations from 1, 2, 4, 6 to 8 hours, and as a #complement to lithium-ion it diversifies supply chains and strengthens security of supply. Cumulative #shipments are set to reach 1 GWh by the end of 2026, with international deliveries beginning June 2027. 🚢 Lithium and sodium, together, as the twin foundation of next-generation energy storage.
