Are we building a building or are we building uptime? That simple question from Bjørnar Haugen Rør System AS challenged the way many of us think about data center projects during CONNECT: Data Center × Construction 2026. One of the strongest messages from his presentation was that data centers require a completely different mindset than traditional construction projects. A hospital may take six years to build and require 6.6 MW of cooling capacity. A modern data center can require 160 MW of cooling on a fraction of the footprint and be delivered in just 12 months. Commissioning doesn't start at the end of the project. It starts at the design stage. Every decision made early in the process impacts reliability, uptime and project delivery later on. Thank you Bjørnar for sharing your perspective and practical experience from delivering critical infrastructure projects! #CONNECTDC #DataCenters #Construction #AIInfrastructure #Commissioning #CriticalInfrastructure #DataCenterConstruction
