In Baden-Baden, our board joined us for the kickoff of our Easter Festival residency at the Festspielhaus, where we performed three pillars of our core repertoire, including Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. In a rehearsal studio that was perhaps a little more compact than usual, they experienced something very special: music at close range. So close, they could almost touch it. These intimate moments of contact between orchestra and board members are incredibly valuable. To see them, even just for a moment, forget everything around them and fully connect with the music and our musicians is a vital part to understand us and to govern the orchestra to a bright future.
