At this year’s Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA) Trends in AGM Practice Conference, the message was clear: the Australian AGM environment is complex, contested and less predictable. Voting behaviour is becoming more fragmented, with global influences shaping local outcomes. AGM success is now determined well ahead of meeting day through early engagement, clearer disclosures and a better understanding of investor priorities. Shareholder activists are also more organised and strategic, using the AGM as a platform to scrutinise management and boards. Together, these dynamics are pushing AGM planning much earlier. Issuers seeing the strongest outcomes are those that identify pressure points early, such as remuneration outcomes, climate-related resolutions and board composition and bring stakeholders together around a clear engagement strategy. The takeaway is simple: resilient AGMs are built, not improvised. They develop over time through insight, discipline and a clear view of the voting landscape. Our #ComputershareAustralia and #Georgeson experts Marnie Reid, Cas Sydorowitz and Scott Hudson were pleased to contribute their extensive knowledge and experience to the discussion. These insights are becoming more important as AGM expectations rise. #AIRA #AIRA2026
