Celebrating Community Impact Across South Australia CBB was proud to support the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards Program, just one of the many ways we demonstrate our ongoing commitment to recognising and uplifting the individuals who strengthen and enrich our communities every day. The 2026 program proudly presented by the Australia Day Council of South Australia (ADCSA) in collaboration with Councils across the State, culminated in a wonderful ceremony at Government House on Thursday 26 February 2026, where we honoured the remarkable South Australians whose contributions make our state stronger, more connected and more resilient. The Citizen of the Year Awards shine a spotlight on everyday people doing extraordinary things - volunteers, leaders, advocates and community champions making a profound difference across South Australia. This year, our Chief Executive Officer Shane Farley had the privilege of presenting the South Australia Award for Active Citizenship to an outstanding recipient David Richardson, Mount Barker District Council. David is a pillar of the Nairne community. An active member of the Country Fire Service brigade, he contributes both locally and at regional and state levels through incident management support. As President of the Nairne District Residents Association, David strengthens collaboration across volunteer groups through Network 5252 and helps deliver major community events including the Nairne Twilight Markets, History Month and Christmas Carols. But his commitment doesn’t stop there, David also serves on the Nairne Netball Club and Oval Committees and supports the Nairne Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee. His sustained volunteer leadership continues to build resilience, belonging and shared pride within the community. At CBB, we are honoured to recognise individuals like David who represent the heart of South Australia. Their dedication inspires us and reinforces why community matters. Congratulations to all 2026 award recipients, and thank you for everything you do to strengthen and enrich our communities. #CitizenOfTheYear #CommunityImpact #SouthAustralia #CBB #VolunteerLeadership #ActiveCitizenship
