Last month saw the return of Treasury’s Chess Tournament for 2026. Running for the last 15 years, the friendly tournament unites players of all skill levels to compete for the converted Treasury Chess Tournament Trophy. Starting with group stages and moving to knockout rounds, the tournament lasted several weeks, with games played during lunchtime either in person or online to include our state offices staff. This year’s competition saw 64 participants battle over 5 rounds, with a notable increase in female participation of 13 competitors (up from one in 2024). Ray Harris won the final against Yoni Chul. The play-off for third place saw David Hertzberg awarded 3rd and James Rankin take out 4th place. Congratulations Ray!
