The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has today published its Final Decision on Uisce Éireann Irish Water's Non-Domestic and Trade Effluent Tariff Framework. From 1 October 2026, updated trade effluent charging arrangements will come into effect, representing the final stage in moving to a nationally consistent and cost-reflective approach to water and wastewater charges for non-domestic customers. The decision includes a five-year transition period, from 2026 to 2031, with gradual caps applied over time to support a smooth and manageable transition. It also updates how tariffs are applied to ensure greater consistency and transparency, and provides for an enhanced programme of communications and supports to help businesses understand what’s changing and what it means for them.
