The CRU has published its Decision Paper on the Sharing of Maximum Export Capacity (MEC) behind a Single Connection Point, enabling eligible hybrid projects to share MEC at a single grid connection. This decision supports co‑located hybrid projects such as combinations of renewables or generation with battery storage by increasing potential output, accelerating delivery, reducing the need for grid upgrades, and enhancing system flexibility. The policy applies to separately metered generation and/or storage units that are independently registered for market, dispatch, and settlement purposes. The decision builds on actions in the Climate Action Plan 2021 and subsequent updates, and follows CRU’s removal of the Installed Capacity Cap in 2024. It is informed by technical analysis by the System Operators and a public consultation published in March 2025. https://lnkd.in/dBGAQ9H9
