The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has published its decision on the Biomethane Connections Policy, an important step for biomethane development in Ireland. The changes will make it easier and more financially viable for biomethane plants of all sizes to connect to the gas network. A new transport option will also open up access for projects located further from the network. This will support increased renewable gas production, make better use of existing infrastructure, and help drive progress towards Ireland’s climate targets. For consumers, this means a cleaner, more secure energy supply over time, with the costs and risks carefully managed as the system transitions to lower carbon energy. Gas Networks Ireland.
