Today's $2 billion training investment over five years is an important step toward building the skilled workforce Canada needs to Build Big. As Canada works to recruit, train and hire up to 100,000 Red Seal trades workers by 2031, expanding public training capacity is mission critical. Colleges, institutes, CEGEPs, polytechnics and Indigenous Institutes of Education are ready to deliver. More than 40,000 learners are waiting to enter construction trades programs at CICan member institutions. Investing in public training capacity means cutting wait times, while creating more opportunities for learners and helping employers find the skilled talent they need at scale. We welcome today's announcement by Minister Hadju and look forward to working with governments and partners to turn this investment into real results for learners, employers and communities to build a strong and resilient Canada.
