#WorldEnvironmentDay   Concrete is everywhere in our projects and its carbon footprint must be taken into account.   🌍 In 2025, concrete accounted for 7% of Colas Rail’s greenhouse gas emissions from purchases of goods and services, up to 40% of the carbon footprint of 1 km of concrete track, and even 50% of the construction sector’s emissions worldwide.   To limit emissions, we can: ✔ choose the right exposure classes to avoid over‑specifying cement content ✔ replace part of the cement with lower‑impact alternatives (slag, fly ash, etc.) ✔ involve all stakeholders from design to execution to optimise performance and footprint   The new NF EN 206+A2/CN standard, published in France in December 2025, helps to promote the deployment of “concrete with reduced carbon impact”, meeting requirements that reduce impact while preserving durability.   Every step counts from preparation to pouring, to build durable infrastructure while lowering our environmental impact.   #ColasRail #WorldEnvironmentDay #LowCarbonConcrete #Decarbonisation #SustainableConstruction #Innovation #CarbonFootprint
