๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿƒ Investigating and enhancing evidence-based policymaking on climate protection ย  In the framework of the #DurhamDeclaration on Climate Change and Sustainability, the Coimbra Group has contributed to the organisation of the ELEVATE-ProClima Workshop, taking place today and tomorrow in DG ENER - European Commission. ย  Research teams from Durham University and the USP - Universidade de Sรฃo Paulo convened this workshop to disseminate and discuss the results of an ongoing research project, funded by The British Academy. The project focuses on the uptake of science in the framework of the UNFCCC and COPs and the development of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) 3.0. Special attention is given to the way #gender responsiveness is integrated in the NDCs. ย  The workshop gathered researchers, sector stakeholders and policymakers, among which representatives of Science Europe, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Commission (DG ENER, DG RTD). Building on a shared commitment to climate action, the participants exchanged insights on the role of scientific knowledge in international policymaking forums. ย  The group also had the opportunity to hear from Elis Nascimento, Director of the Department of Climate Justice in the Brazilian Minister for Indigenous Peoples. Warm thanks to our host at DG ENER, Oliver Koch, and to all participants for contributing to such fruitful discussions: Mathilde MOUSSON, Diฤna P., Lidia Borrell-Damian, Nicolas Galudec, Ester Zangrandi, Daniel Donoghue, Petra Minnerop, Owen Boyle, Chien-Yi Chang, Volker Rรถben, Caio Gracco Pinheiro Dias, Flavia Trentini, Gabriella Barros, and Mikael Karlsson from Coimbra Group member Uppsala University.
