Today, Coherent Corp announced a proposed $50 million CHIPS and Science Act award to support the expansion of our world-leading 6-inch Indium Phosphide (InP) manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas. This investment will help expand domestic production of the optical networking technologies that power AI infrastructure, create new manufacturing jobs, strengthen supply chain resilience, and reinforce American technology leadership. At project completion, the Sherman expansion will: • Double our manufacturing production area from 70,000 to 140,000 square feet • Quadruple wafer production capacity • Support more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, including 550+ advanced manufacturing, engineering, and technical roles We're excited to celebrate this milestone today with our partners, employees, customers, and community leaders as we officially break ground on the next chapter of Sherman’s growth.
