We know that the future of aviation depends on sustainable aviation fuels. The real challenge, however, is producing them while minimizing the environmental impact of the processes involved ✈️ In our latest work, we explored a simple question: Can we extract biofuel precursors from #microalgae without relying on conventional toxic solvents? The answer is 𝗬𝗘𝗦! By combining computational modeling with experimental validation, we developed a greener extraction process based on innovative ionic liquids. The method achieved outstanding lipid recovery (over 96%) while preserving a lipid profile ideally suited for #SAF production. Curious about the molecular interactions, extraction mechanism, and process optimization?
