A UCLA research team, led by CNSI member and UCLA Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry professor Xiangfeng Duan, has developed a new strategy to improve electrical contact in perovskite semiconductors by engineering a nanoscale region that enables efficient charge transfer via quantum tunneling. By dramatically reducing resistance at the metal–semiconductor interface, the approach allows current to flow more efficiently at lower voltages ⚡️ This breakthrough addresses a key barrier in perovskite electronics and could enable faster, lower-power, and more reliable devices, advancing applications in next-generation electronics, sensors, and optoelectronic technologies.
