“Sustainability is not dead” — despite the 2025 backlash. That’s one of my strongest takeaways from last week’s WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development Education Alumni event at the beautiful Laudato Si Centre in Castel Gandolfo, Italy. Over two days, we explored 'Moral Leadership in a Volatile World' through: 🌿 Future sustainability trends for 2026 and the concept of Integral Ecology 🌿 Discussions with professionals committed to driving meaningful change 🌿 Reflection on our values and inner compass, because leadership starts within 🌿 A powerful forest bath reconnecting us to nature’s clarity and grounding These two days renewed both my hope for the future of sustainability and my confidence in my own path. My 2 key takeaways? 👉 Progress is still happening — even if the narrative often focuses on setbacks. New frameworks such as the Global Circularity Protocol and Nature Measurement Protocol are emerging. And according to Deloitte, 83% of companies increased their sustainability investments last year. 👉 My work aligns with my compass. Whether through L&D work with BPI Learn or supporting people in cultivating sustainable wellbeing, I’m contributing to the People side of sustainability, and that's what drives me. Looking ahead, I wish to… ✍ Bring more 'non-convinced' people into these conversations to open up dialogue & integrate other points of view ✍ Simplify sustainability storytelling so it resonates more deeply with everyday realities ✍ Keep challenging my own lifestyle to stay aligned with the values I advocate ❓ Two questions for you: Did your sustainability conviction take a hit this year?
