"We won’t be able to meaningfully reduce climate pollution in the U.S. until we do something about trade associations. Organized business groups aligned with the fossil fuel industry collectively spend hundreds of millions each year to stymie climate and environmental policy. From 2008 to 2018, trade groups allied with Big Oil and other major climate polluters outspent clean energy trade groups 27 to 1. Two of the most climate obstructionist trade associations that work on behalf of major polluters are the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable." Especially given last week's passage of the Budget Reconciliation Bill and the dire consequences for clean energy in the U.S., it continues to be essential to call for climate policy advocacy and ensure trade groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable and their *member companies* are not obstructing clean energy provisions and climate solutions. The delayed clean energy transition will adversely impact jobs, energy costs, the environment, our climate, public health and the economy - so why aren't more companies and trade groups lobbying to accelerate a collective transition to cleaner and more affordable energy? Thanks to Casey Quinlan and HEATED for this important story today. https://lnkd.in/gWZszUEV
