Carbon markets don’t start with supply. They start with companies deciding to take responsibility. One of the most overlooked parts of carbon markets is this: Demand isn’t automatic. It’s created. As Bill Flederbach, COO of ClimeCo explains, most of today’s market is driven by companies making voluntary commitments. Not because they’re forced to. But because they recognize something important: What they produce is valuable to society. But it also comes with a cost, emissions. So the real question becomes: How do you get ahead of that responsibility? That’s where demand begins. Not in policy. Not in supply. But in leadership decisions to: ✅ Set targets ✅ Acknowledge externalities ✅ Actively work to reduce them Because carbon markets don’t scale when credits exist.
