More accounts of women reporting predatory behaviour and abuse of power have been published by The Times today - this time in respect of David Sullivan, owner of West Ham football club and former tabloid boss, who denies the allegations. Speaking out about allegations of abuse takes enormous courage on the part of victims/survivors, particularly where there is a huge imbalance of power and financial resources between them and the alleged perpetrator. I have written a bit about the support available to victims during the criminal process, the difficulties of speaking out against wealthy individuals who have expert reputation management services at their disposal, and the importance of recognising the damage done by abuse. Hopefully ongoing media coverage of women's stories helps to move the dial towards greater accountability and a better understanding of the devastating consequences of abuse.
