Efficiency isn’t the outcome. Time is. At Basingstoke & Deane Council, reducing admin didn’t just improve processes. It created space for something more valuable. By automating council tax workflows, teams removed backlog and kept recovery work up to date. But the real shift happened elsewhere: - Officers had more time to engage with residents - Earlier intervention became possible - Support could be more tailored, especially for those under financial pressure. In many organisations, this is where transformation becomes real. Not in the system itself, but in how time is reallocated. Technology alone doesn’t solve this.
