Renting in the Netherlands has never been more legally protected. It has also, somehow, never been harder to find a flexible apartment. Our friends at DutchReview have done a proper job of explaining why — the new Fixed Rental Contracts Act, the 12-month minimum-stay clauses hidden in "indefinite" contracts, the income requirements, and the small matter of needing a registered address to get a BSN (your hotel does not count, sadly).
