Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has clarified his stance on the ongoing debate about Shadab Khan’s potential captaincy following Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2026. Afridi stated that, based on Shadab’s recent performances, he “wouldn’t even keep him in the team, forget about handing him the captaincy.” He explained that head coach Mike Hesson, who previously worked with Shadab at Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, has consistently backed him, which is why Afridi believes Shadab could eventually be considered for the role. However, Afridi emphasized that Shadab’s current form does not merit a place in the playing XI. Instead, Afridi suggested Fakhar Zaman as his preferred choice for captain, citing his attacking mindset as the leadership quality Pakistan needs at this stage. #CityMagazine #ShahidAfridi #ShadabKhan #PakistanCricket #T20WorldCup2026 #fblifestyle
