Under the Energy & Water Reporting bylaw, owners of buildings 50,000 square feet and larger must submit their buildings’ energy and water use annually. The building sector accounts for more than half of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Toronto, mostly due to energy and water use, which can also represent some of the largest operating costs for building owners. The data is used to benchmark building emissions, which will help owners to improve efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and cut costs. The deadline to report 2025 data is July 2.
