A Heat Warning has been issued for Toronto. ☀️ It’s not safe to be out in this heat without taking care of yourself. Make sure you’re drinking your water and check in on with friends, family & neighbours (especially older adults living alone) and make sure they are staying hydrated and keeping cool. What’s open to help you beat the heat: WATER TRUCKS (available after 12 noon) Available at the following locations: Nathan Phillips Square; Mel Lastman Square; East York Civic Centre, and Barbara Hall Park. The water trailer at Nathan Phillips Square will remain in place until after July 19, when the FIFA World Cup 2026™ ends. CIVIC BUILDINGS Open for people seeking a cool space from 8 am to 9:30 pm: Scarborough Civic Centre Etobicoke Civic Centre York Civic Centre East York Civic Centre Metro Hall The North York Civic Centre will open earlier at 7:30 am and close at 9:30 pm. OUTDOOR POOLS Eight pools will be open late until 11:45 pm. Alex Duff Memorial Outdoor Pool Giovanni Caboto Outdoor Pool at Earlscourt Park Heron Park Community Recreation Centre McGregor Park Monarch Park North Toronto Memorial Outdoor Pool Smithfield Outdoor Pool Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool All other outdoor pools are running on the regular summer schedule. 24 HOUR COOL SPACE Anyone in need can now access a 24-hour cool space at 136 Spadina Road. The space will be air-conditioned, seating, light refreshments, and social recreational activities. Additionally, up to 113 contingency spaces will be available within the shelter system for Central Intake referrals during a Heat Warning.
