Last week we announced an upgrade that’s paws-itively practical 🐶😻🐷🐐 Behind the scenes, the City of Armadale has recently completed an upgrade to its animal management facility. This fancy new facility plays an important role in how the City manages animal safety, care and compliance. Over the past seven to eight months, the facility has been refreshed to bring it in line with current standards, with a focus on improving safety, functionality and day to day usability. The upgrades include a new purpose built cat housing area (lovingly referred to as the Cat Condo 😽💅) with improved ventilation and backup power. As well as upgraded dog housing because mans best friend needs new digs too! New external runs, improved fencing and access, and a range of broader improvements across the site including lighting, surface treatments and undercover walkways. These changes support safer handling for staff, improve conditions within the facility, and create a more functional environment for managing animals while they are in the City’s care. Animal management is an area that often attracts strong community interest. The City’s role is to balance community safety with responsible care, within a legislative framework that guides how local governments operate. Facilities like this form part of that system, supporting safe and consistent day to day operations. This project was delivered in house by the City’s Program Delivery team, coordinating trades and works to achieve an outcome that meets operational needs while working within a constrained budget. Feedback from our legendary Rangers who use the facility every day has been hugely positive, with the upgraded site making a noticeable difference to how they are able to carry out their work.
