A few members of the Cirrus Therapeutics team recently stepped out of the lab and into a uniquely New England pastime: candlepin bowling. Unlike traditional bowling, candlepin uses a smaller 4.5-inch ball, tall slender pins, and gives players three rolls per frame instead of two, a nod to just how deceptively difficult the game is. It turned out to be a fitting choice. The path to developing new therapies is rarely straightforward. It takes creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and the fighting spirit to keep going when the going gets tough. Spending time together outside the lab helps build exactly that kind of mentality, while also giving people space to reset, connect, and return to the work with fresh perspective. “Candlepin bowling is harder than it looks, which may be one reason it felt strangely familiar,” said CEO and Co-founder Ying Kai Chan, PhD. “Building a biotech company and developing transformative medicines require resilience, collaboration, and a willingness to keep refining your approach. Time together like this helps strengthen our team behind the Cirrus mission.” As Cirrus continues to grow, we are intentional about building not only a great scientific organization, but also a team culture grounded in trust, camaraderie, and shared purpose. #vision #AMD #DryAMD #WetAMD #optometry #opthalmology #healthcare #science #STEM #biotech #biopharma #research #lifesciences
