What does it take to move 7 million parcels a day? CILT Africa recently visited the YTO Express Northern Headquarters Base in Yongqing County, China, and came away with a front-row view of logistics infrastructure operating at a scale few systems in the world can match. Founded in 2000, YTO Express has grown into a supply chain group spanning express logistics, aviation, technology, commerce, and finance with over 5,100 branches. The Northern Headquarters Base itself is a case study in deliberate, phased growth. For CILT Africa, visits like this aren't just about admiring infrastructure abroad. They're about asking sharper questions back home: 💠 How do we design logistics hubs that anticipate growth in stages, rather than reacting to it?  💠How do we integrate technology, e-commerce, and workforce development into a single, coherent system?  💠What does "world-class" actually look like in practice,  and how do we localise it for African markets, ports, and corridors?
