Today at the inaugural Designing Libraries International CIC Conference at the iconic Swiss Cottage Library, our Chief Development officer Sonia Ramdhian spoke to the theme: "Design matters - our spaces can be as powerful as our services" where she interrogates the importance of the physical library space: "The attention to physical spaces, the possibilities offered by libraries from reading for pleasure to information discovery to gaining digital skills can be strengthened through reinforcing positive feelings and emotions. Positive feelings and emotions about where they are and what they're doing and what they can achieve. The library space is somewhere they can be open, where they can be vulnerable, where they can be in control, where they can be confident." #LibrariesChageLives #DesigningLibraries
