This winter, I not only checked off a visit to Nagoya Castle & Mirai Tower, but also had the opportunity to go on a company visit to DENSO and a school visit to Nagoya Institute of Technology 名古屋工業大学! The theme for MA4858 (Product Design) is mobility in 2035 with micro energy harvesting. To be honest, many of us initially took this module simply because there was no final exam mostly projects based. ( Less exams = less stress LOL ) But as the semester went on, I realised that product design goes far beyond just products and aesthetics. Its really about value adding , empathy, & the human experience. During our field trip observations at SGH, many questions arose. We began asking ourselves: What can we do in the next 10 years to better support healthcare workers? This led our group to develop the concept of an Emergency Response (ER) Drone. The main goal was to reduce the pressure and risks faced by paramedics, while also protecting their physical safety and mental well-being. Paramedics are truly the unsung heroes of Singapore, often being the first to arrive at emergency scenes. Our ER Drone concept includes features such as a bladeless drone design, AI and machine learning, and integrated sensor systems to better support emergency response efforts not just in Singapore but around the world. Also, thrilled to announce that we came in first !!! 🥇 I truly believe that anything is possible in 10 years’ time , with technological advancement, research, and passion, we can make the world a better place to live in. I'm extremely grateful to Prof Chun-Hsien Chen ,Prof Inoue & Prof Leong for their guidance, support, on this meaningful learning opportunity 🙂 Thank you to my teammates for the support : Cedrick James Tupas Castro, Allen Michael Tan, Wei Long Kho Alfred Taye ,Qays Faaris Jumadi ,Jeren Tong NTU School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering What do you want to see in the next 10 years?
