The humanitarian sector is changing. Its hardest internal challenges are not. That is the throughline Jessica Alexander, MPH, MIA, lead author and editor of our Humanitarian Accountability Report 2026, draws out: "The external environment has changed dramatically, yet many of the humanitarian sector's internal challenges remain remarkably familiar. What stands out in this report is the consistency of voices from across the humanitarian system and the broad agreement on what needs to happen. Contributors are not calling for new commitments but for the sector to deliver on the ones it has already made." After all the upheaval, the sector is not short of answers.
