Data from the European Travel Commission, presented earlier today by Menno van IJssel at the SETE - Greek Tourism Confederation conference confirm what we are also seeing at TrueTrips: 1 in 2 travelers seek less popular destinations (and not just European travelers, like the slide describes). Typically, something has to give for that to happen. Most usually, in my experience, that’s easy accessibility and short travel times. Off the beaten path doesn’t involve daily flights or ten ferries daily. More and more people are willing to make the trade. Patmos, anyone?
