Deputy Managing Director VDMA Mining & Minerals

VDMA Mining & Minerals Bord Meeting At the premises of Herrenknecht AG in Schwanau took place on the July 11, 2025 the summer meeting of the VDMA Mining & Minerals' board. At a great location and thanks to the magnificent hospitality of Martin-Devid Herrenknecht the board members arround chairman Dr. Marcus Wirtz discussed about the current economic situation, new mining projects in Europe and upcoming events. Worldwide sales of mining and minerals equipment kept stable in 2024 on a high level with a slight reduction of 1.2% in comparison to 2023. Nevertheless, within the main supplier regions some changes have taken place: China's share grew by 11.8%, USA and the EU shrank by 11.2% and 4.8%, respectively. Rolf Kuby, Managing Director of the European Mining Association Euromines, gave an overview about their activities in Brussels and the latest evolution arround the Critical Raw Materials Act - CRMA. One the of the biggest projects declared strategic in the framework of CRMA is Jaddar in Serbia. The explotation of this giant lithium deposit in Europe is still stuck due to unsolved permit issues. The next board meeting is going to be celebrated on November 20, 2025 in Essen.
