Focus areas: 🧬 Cancer 🦠 Autoimmune diseases ⚖️ Metabolic disorders 🧫 Immune–microbiome interactions 💡 Goal: Understand how lipid metabolism shapes immune responses in health and disease. 🔬 PhD Project DC14 🧫 Microbial Metabolites as Immune Metabolic Switches You will investigate how microbiome-derived metabolites influence T-cell function by reshaping lipid metabolism. 🧪 Research Objectives You will: 🧫 Screen microbial & tissue metabolites affecting T-cell function 🧬 Study lipid remodeling in effector T cells 📊 Use advanced lipidomics & metabolic profiling ⚡ Apply single-cell tools (SCENITH, Met-Flow) 🧠 Key Methods 🔬 Lipidomics (quantitative lipid profiling) 🧫 Single-cell metabolic analysis ⚙️ CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing 📊 Flow cytometry–based metabolic mapping 🧬 Immunometabolic functional assays 🌍 Secondments (Research Visits) You will work in partner labs across Europe: 🇩🇪 University Medical Center Mainz (Bindila Lab) 🧬 Lipidomics & disease marker discovery 🇩🇪 ActiTrexx Lab (Dr. Helmut Jonuleit) 🧫 Human T-cell disease models & validation 🎯 Who Can Apply?
