Literature and cinema are remarkably good at producing individuals whom we enjoy contemplating but would hesitate to befriend. The traits that create compelling stories are often not the traits that create healthy relationships. Obsession, stubbornness, relentless ambition, and certainty make for excellent drama. Moderation, patience, and restraint make for better companions.
