I just got drilled in the face by a baseball at Little League practice... and it was the best B2B sales lesson I've had all year. Picture this: I'm out there coaching my son's team (because apparently "Dad who played zero baseball growing up" is now the guy drawing up defensive shifts like it's Moneyball). One perfect pitch later and in return, a perfect hit by the batter —POW— right in the kisser. My body goes flying. Stars appear. The kids freeze like they just witnessed a real-life Wile E. Coyote moment. For a second, I considered pulling a FIFA and dramatically flopping on the ground, grabbing my face, and calling it a career. But instead, I did what every good sales professional does: ✅ Shook it off (while secretly checking if my teeth were still all intact) ✅ Took total ownership ("That was a perfect hit, I should have had the glove up... ") ✅ Bounced back (threw a thumbs up to the team, letting them know I was okay, wiped the dirt off, grabbed a new ball, and got right back to pitch to the next batter) ✅ Moved on to the next opportunity (because there are always more kids that need batting practice) Instead of my usual AI-generated video, Brian Deitch encouraged me to share this authentic video of me getting drilled in the face during Little League practice and this is the result.
