This is an SBM (Single Buoy Mooring) in action. An SBM is a floating offshore loading system that allows tankers to safely load or discharge crude oil and petroleum products without coming alongside a terminal or jetty. The tanker moors to the buoy, while subsea pipelines and floating hoses handle the transfer of hydrocarbons. Why SBMs matter: •They enable safe offshore loading in deep or open waters. • Reduce congestion at onshore terminals. • Minimize environmental risk when properly operated. • Allow continuous operations even where ports are limited. Simple system, but highly engineered and critical to offshore production and export operations. This is where marine operations, process integrity and safety all come together. #SBM #SingleBuoyMooring #OffshoreOperations #OilAndGas #MarineOperations #EnergyInfrastructure #ProcessSafety #TankFarmOperations
