⚡ From Theory to Practical – Building the Foundation of Power Electronics ⚡ One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is helping students understand how electrical concepts work in real-world applications. In this practical session, I guided my students through the complete process of converting 230V AC mains supply into a regulated 12V DC output capable of driving a 12V DC motor. The session covered: 🔹 Step-down of 230V AC to 12V AC using a transformer. 🔹 Understanding the working principle of a bridge rectifier. 🔹 Demonstrating how AC is converted into pure DC using a rectifier and filtering stage. 🔹 Explaining the importance of ripple reduction for stable DC output. 🔹 Measuring the actual current consumption of a DC motor under operating conditions. 🔹 Hands-on testing using measuring instruments to verify voltage and current values. What made this session even more satisfying was that the rectifier circuit used during the demonstration was designed and built by me, delivering a smooth and reliable DC output. Seeing students connect theoretical concepts with practical implementation is always an enriching experience. Electrical engineering is not just about memorizing formulas—it's about understanding how every component works together to create efficient, reliable systems. Practical exposure like this equips students with the confidence to design, troubleshoot, and innovate. Looking forward to conducting more hands-on sessions that bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry applications.
