Intercalating Medical Student (MRes) | NIHR-funded | BAD Intercalated Degree Award
I am delighted to share that I have been awarded the Medical Student Intercalated Degree Award by the British Association of Dermatologists, a highly competitive award presented to only two students across the UK and Ireland each year. This award includes £5,000 in funding to support my research. Alongside existing NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) funding, it will enable further development of our work applying loop-mediated isothermal amplification (#LAMP) in #melanoma research at the University of Lancashire. I would like to sincerely thank Dr Tamara Griffiths, President of the British Association of Dermatologists, and the BAD Scholarships and Awards Sub-committee for this honour. I am very grateful to my supervisors, Professor Ihtesham ur Rehman, Mariana Moreira, Philip Houldsworth MSc FIBMS FRAI, and Professor Ruth Board, for their invaluable guidance and continued support, and I am also grateful to Professor Faisal Ali for his mentorship, as well as to Dr Jennifer Macdowall for kindly endorsing my application. I am grateful for the support and NIHR opportunities provided by Professor Umesh Chauhan, Dr Maria Moffatt, and Dr Gabriel Elvery PhD through the Integrated Clinical Academic Training (ICAT) programme, as well as the support of the leadership within the School of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Lancashire, including Professor Alison Carr, Rupal Lovell-Patel, Dr Johann Malawana, and Dr Nadia Shah, which have made this possible. I look forward to continuing to make the most of my intercalated Master of Research (#MRes) in Medical Sciences and to presenting the outcomes of our #dermatology research over the coming year.
