๐โก๏ธ "I started with a Certificate III in Aged Care. 20 years later, I graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing." Not everyone takes the same path to university, and for Peita, that's exactly what made her journey possible. Peita began her healthcare career as an Assistant in Nursing in 2003 before completing a Diploma of Nursing through TAFE NSW in 2015. With years of industry experience behind her, she made the decision to take the next step and enrol in Charles Sturt's Bachelor of Nursing. ๐ฉบ Balancing full-time shift work with part-time study over four years wasn't always easy, but Peita's determination, planning and passion for caring for others helped her achieve her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Studying online through Charles Sturt and accessing support through the Taree Universities Campus made university achievable while living in regional NSW, allowing Peita to keep placements local and continue working throughout her degree. Today, she works as a Registered Nurse at an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, providing clinical care to older people and helping them maintain their independence at home for longer. ๐ฅ Peita's story is proof that there is more than one pathway to university, and more than one pathway to a rewarding career.
