New research is shedding light on real‑world access to healthcare across Australia. Led by Charles Sturt University Lecturer in Occupational Therapy Karen Hayes the research found that more than 550,000 Australians live over 30 minutes from an occupational therapist, with access challenges most pronounced in regional and remote communities. Through a new spatial accessibility model and interactive dashboard, the project provides clearer evidence to support health workforce planning, policy development and targeted investment - particularly in areas of greatest need.
