Founder of DeskAmigo- redefining the future of work
Last week we surpassed 1,000 bookings on DeskAmigo since launching the app in January. I don’t want to do the cliché founder post, I really don’t… it’s only now that I understand where the urge comes from so apologies in advance. I’ve spent the last few days down in the Algarve visiting some of our clients, and it’s given me a chance to reflect for the first time since I went full time on DeskAmigo in January of last year. I don’t think I could add anything unique or original to the conversation about what it takes to be a founder or what it’s like. Sacrifices, challenges, sleepless nights. You see the best and worst in people. It’s fascinating, really, when you can find the time to be objective. DeskAmigo is a very unique idea in the startup landscape today, and it’s why I think we get attention wherever we go. I think it’s because it’s a problem everyone instinctively understands, but which, until now, had not been solved. It’s not a solution in search of a problem, so to speak. It’s also because I had the benefit of not coming from a tech background, strange as that sounds. I didn’t try to solve the problem with elaborate technology or AI. Just to solve the problem. And I believe I can now say, without conceit, that I have solved it. The DeskAmigo concept will be the future of work: repurposing existing spaces, supporting small businesses, offering ultimate flexibility, variety, and cost-efficiency as a workspace solution. 12 months ago, all I had was an idea. 5 months ago, all I had was an MVP with no customers. And now, every day, I see new people signing up and spending their hard-earned money to use my idea. It’s an incredible feeling. Last week, we surpassed one thousand bookings. Our bookings and revenue are tripling month on month. We have generated tens of thousands of euros for the Portuguese economy. This week was our best week on record. Today was our best day on record. The list goes on. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with next to no resources. I’m lucky to have found an incredible team in Leonor Rosa Pardal, Dayse Brilhante, Maria Mendes and Rebeca Chagas. You have all treated DeskAmigo like your own baby since joining, and I’m so grateful and proud of all of you. I don’t know what I did to deserve you all. Making sure you are properly rewarded for your hard work is my biggest motivation. A thousand bookings last week. I’ll check back in when we hit a million. #startup #founderlife #futureofwork #remotework #growth #portugal
