⭕️ Turkiye’s top refineries boost non-Russian oil imports amid new Western sanctions Turkiye’s top oil refineries have increased purchases of non-Russian crude following the latest Western sanctions targeting Moscow, two people with direct knowledge and several industry sources told Reuters. One of the country’s biggest refineries, SOCAR Turkiye Aegean Refinery (STAR), owned by Azerbaijan’s SOCAR, recently acquired four shipments of crude from Iraq, Kazakhstan, and other non-Russian suppliers for December delivery, according to the sources. These shipments represent between 77,000 and 129,000 barrels per day (bpd) of non-Russian crude, depending on cargo size, based on Reuters estimates, indicating that STAR is reducing its reliance on Russian oil. In September and October, Russian crude made up nearly all of STAR’s intake of around 210,000 bpd, according to Kpler data.
