From fluffy powder to flowable granules. Tablet issues often start before the press. When tablets miss hardness, weight or content-uniformity specs, the first instinct is often to look at the press, the formulation, or the tester. But in many cases, the root cause sits one step earlier: granulation. In this video, our colleagues at Faytec show roller compaction in action: fluffy, low-flow powder going in - denser, more flowable granules coming out. We test thousands of tablets a year, and the pattern is consistent. Powders that flow poorly fill dies unevenly. Weight variation follows. So does hardness scatter. That's the data your QC team ends up explaining in the deviation report. Roller compaction is one approach. It turns fluffy, low-flow powder into denser granules that meter consistently into the press, without the heat and moisture of wet granulation. Granulation rarely gets the spotlight. But every consistent tablet depends on it.
