. . . A few years ago, my former boss (an Afrikaans South African expatriate) said something to me that has stayed with me till today. “Charles, you make working across cultures look easy.” I laughed it off at first. But he went further. He told me he constantly received positive feedback about how I related with expatriates, local teams, and contractors... How I aligned everyone, resolved friction quickly, and kept the work moving… even though I was younger than most of them on site. That moment changed how I saw project management. It’s not just schedules, budgets, or reports. It’s people. 📍It’s learning how to communicate across accents and expectations. 📍It’s building trust fast. 📍It’s leading without ego. 📍It’s delivering results through collaboration. Over the years, I’ve applied those lessons while supporting multimillion-naira engineering and infrastructure projects... From heavy-duty installations to large-scale facility expansions, working side-by-side with diverse, multicultural teams. And honestly, that human side of execution is what makes projects succeed. Today, I’m excited to keep contributing this experience to initiatives that are building industries, communities, and opportunities across Africa. ------------------‐----------------- Dear younger engineers, project managers, and professionals coming up: Don’t just build technical skills, learn how to work with people. That skill will take you further than any certificate ever will. It's Monday again... Let’s keep building. Together. 🤝 ----------------------------------- ♻️ Repost to inspire one more person. 📍Follow me, Charles Ayo, PMP® for more insights from my journey.
