CNA made its mark at the recent SOPA - The Society of Publishers in Asia Awards 2026, garnering regional Awards of Excellence for its 2025 Budget calculator and a pictorially driven feature on charcoal-making in Malaysia. https://cna.asia/4oFpUsJ The Budget calculator won an award for Excellence in Journalistic Innovation, with judges saying the interactive's “intuitive input/output is a pleasure to use and it looks great”. CNA's visual journalist ahmad zamzahuri was also recognised with an award for Excellence in Photography for his photo essay on Malaysia's charcoal workers. Judges commended his dedication to his craft, noting that he chose to "inhabit the same choking, hazardous environment as the workers" instead of shooting them from a distance.
