Australia will deploy a surveillance aircraft and around 85 military personnel to the Gulf for four weeks to defend the region's airspace, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Tuesday (Mar 10). He added that the country will also send "advanced, medium-range air-to-air missiles" to the United Arab Emirates at their request. Mr Albanese also stressed that Australia is not taking offensive action against Iran. "We've been clear that we are not deploying Australian troops on the ground in Iran," he said.
