A really positive day in Dublin yesterday as we looked ahead to Ireland's EU Council Presidency this July. 🤝 A delegation led by Eurochambres President Vladimir Dlouhy visited Dublin for a full programme of engagements focussing on the Irish Presidency of the EU Council. Together with colleagues from Eurochambres, we met with Taoiseach Micheál Martin for a constructive and encouraging conversation about what the Presidency can achieve for businesses both here and in Europe: from simplification and the Single Market to trade, public procurement, the MFF and balancing sustainability with competitiveness. Eurochambres 6 proposals for a business friendly European semester: 💶 Strengthen #Erasmus+ & #SME support via the next #MFF 🗃️ Increase the momentum of the #simplification agenda ✒️ Rework the EU public procurement rules to better fit the needs of businesses 🚧 Remove persistent #singlemarket barriers to cross-border trade & scaling up 🌎 Advance new free trade agreements with like-minded partners 🌿 Carefully monitor & balance the complex interrelations between green, digital & competitiveness policies Eurochambres CEO Ben Butters, Vladimir Dlouhy and CEO Ian Talbot then shared the stage at Dublin Chamber and spoke with attendees on how to bring the Presidency priorities to life for businesses across Europe. Thank you to Dublin Chamber, Mary Rose Burke and Aebhric McGibney C.Dir, MPRII for hosting such an engaging afternoon. The day finished with a dinner for affiliated and bilateral Chambers, kindly sponsored by Zurich Ireland, which provided an opportunity to reflect on the shared purpose that connects chambers across Ireland and Europe, and the difference that Chambers of Commerce make for businesses every day. Ireland has a wonderful opportunity over the coming months. We're looking forward to playing our part. 💼 EU Trade
