🌱 NRW launches participatory process for the bioeconomy – and we’re right in the middle of it! With its new bioeconomy strategy, North Rhine-Westphalia (Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Industrie, Klimaschutz und Energie des Landes NRW) has sent a strong signal: by 2045, NRW aims to become an internationally leading location for sustainable bioeconomy. The strategy focuses on replacing fossil resources with bio-based solutions, developing new materials, products and business models, strengthening regional value chains, and making the economy more resilient to crises and supply disruptions. Now comes the crucial next step: the participatory process. Stakeholders from science, industry and society are invited to help shape concrete measures and set priorities. As NRW’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Mona Neubaur, emphasizes, a strategy can only have real impact if it is developed through dialogue and translated into practice. This milestone also directly relates to our chair, as Chairholder Prof. Dr. Stefanie Bröring was closely involved in developing this forward-looking strategy. She was responsible for Chapter 8.5 “Start-ups in der Bioökonomie fördern” which focuses on strengthening bioeconomy start-ups as key drivers of innovation and transformation. The chapter highlights the crucial role of start-ups in translating excellent research into market-ready bio-based products, biotechnological processes, and digital solutions. It emphasizes the importance of strong university-based entrepreneurship support, access to validation and scale-up financing, pilot and production infrastructure, as well as targeted networking with investors and industry partners. This generally underlines how essential close collaboration between research, policy, and practice is for accelerating innovation cycles, strengthening regional value creation, and enabling bioeconomy start-ups to grow and scale successfully. 👉 Now is the time to get involved: share your ideas, experiences and perspectives, and actively shape the future of the bioeconomy in NRW! https://lnkd.in/empPvhkw Download here: https://lnkd.in/eE4jz3H9 #Bioeconomy #Sustainability #Innovation #NRW #Transformation #ScienceAndPractice
