Before Sustainable Aviation Fuel hits the runway, it faces an integrity crisis at the refinery gate: feedstock fraud. Because SAF commands a premium, the incentive to mislabel virgin deforestation oils as Used Cooking Oil is significant. The data bears that out. Regulators estimate up to a third of UCO imported into Europe is fraudulent. Regional export hubs frequently ship out more UCO than their populations physically generate. Cross-border investigations have found virgin palm oil being blended directly into waste streams at the collection source. The deeper problem is chemical. Once refined, verifying a fuel's origin becomes impossible. If raw inputs are compromised before they reach the refinery gate, the compliance certificates attached to the final product carry no legal weight. Traceability has to start at the point of collection. #SustainableAviationFuel #SAF #Biofuels #FeedstockTraceability #SupplyChainIntegrity #CleanTech #DataIntegrity
